Our Story @ Stunt Showdown...
Madison, Braelyn, Caitlyn, and Avery—four passionate cheerleaders who connected while partner stunting and discovered their shared love for tumbling and stunting. Each girl was an all-star cheerleader at her respective gym, but their encounter introduced them to a new level of collaboration and creativity through co-ed partner stunts, which differed significantly from their typical routines.
When most people think of “cheerleading,” images of pom-poms, sideline chants, and high school football games come to mind. However, cheerleading has evolved into a competitive sport in its own right. For a typical two-and-a-half-minute competition routine, an average all-star cheerleader dedicates ten or more hours each week to intense training, focusing on physical conditioning and preparation for competition.
While some skills—like tumbling, jumping, and dancing—are developed individually, partner stunts, pyramids, and basket tosses demand exceptional teamwork, synchronization, and partner cohesion. Stunting fosters resilience, strength, and determination. In 2021, the International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committees officially recognized cheerleading as a sport, opening the door for potential Olympic inclusion and inspiring young athletes with new goals.
Introducing Stunt Showdown!—a local organization serving the tri-state area (PA, NJ, DE,) dedicated to providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their partner stunting skills. Stunt Showdown aims to foster a sense of accomplishment, boost self-esteem, and offer individual feedback for athletes performing partner stunts. Notably, we do not restrict participant positions by height or weight, enabling athletes who typically serve as bases or backspots in all-star cheer to take on flying roles. This approach prepares them for the co-ed dynamics of college-level cheerleading, where more female athletes are encouraged to fly. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where every position—flyers, bases, and backspots—can shine and showcase their skills.
We were excited to announce our very first competition on December 21st, 2024 in the suburbs of Philadelphia. More importantly, we were proud to have partnered with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), with all proceeds from our event benefiting this incredible cause. This events goal was to welcome over 50 athletes to this competition, as participants engage their communities across the U.S. and Canada.
